5 Easy Makeup Tips to Look Younger
We all have our "routine" when it comes to applying makeup. We may change up colors, palettes, products, but there are few things you may be doing that is aging your looks and you don't even realize! Girl-- we got you covered!
1. Concealer Faux Pas- Dark circles happen to the best of us! But if you are using heavy amounts of concealer to cover them up, it will appear awkward and dry out your tender skin under your eyes. Think of concealer in two ways: one to cover up and one to brighten. If you're only using one color or type of concealer every where on your face it can age you.
Solution: Moisturize! Keeping your under eyes moisturized will do wonders for those dark spots. Leaving your eyes healthier and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Keep two concealers in your make up bag; have a cover up concealer and a light, luminous concealer for normal wear. We are loving this lightweight Jane Iredale luminous concealer! 2. Applying Makeup in the Wrong Place- Even if you are a contour master, the older we get the more precise we need to be with makeup application. Our faces become less forgiving with every flip of the calendar. As we age, using precision based tools and brushes can help us defy age and gravity!
Solutions: Blush- We've grown up with the old smile and apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. As you age, if you smile and apply your blush with a precise brush about a half an inch higher it can appear to give your face and smile a bit of a lift. Bronzer- Use a sun kissed tone and brush it lightly where the sun would naturally hit your face: across your forehead, down the center and around the sides of your face. Use sparingly to smooth your face and enhance your natural glow.
3. Pulling your eyes to line them- Tugging or pulling on your eyes to create wings or line your eyes can add years to your appearance.
Solution: Look down rather than closing your eyes to line above your lashes, use sweeping strokes to fill in the area you line on your eyes. Or as you age look into tight-lining mascara under your lashes to help your eye appear larger and brighter.
4. Wrong Foundation Color- This sounds like it should be something everyone would grow out of, but using even the slightly wrong foundation color can enhance the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Solution: Match as close to your skin color as possible, and consult professionals. We offer color match services to ensure the best color so you look young and fresh. Often the older you get you can even ditch the foundation all together and opt for a tinted moisturizer.
5. Heavy Matte Lipsticks- Not that we are saying matte lipsticks are a no go, just that be very selective in your choice. Heavy application of any lipsticks, but especially matte can leave your lips looking dry and cracked.
Solution: Opt for hydrating plump lipsticks and to keep your lips look soft and kissable. It is also important not to skip your lips during your skincare routine. Using a lip scrub and make 2-3 times a week can keep your lips from feeling and looking flaky and dry. And don't think masks are just for your face, we are obsessed with Sara Happ's sweet clay lip mask!
